Scrub the affected area with soapy water. Fill a bucket with warm water, and add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of liquid dish soap. Swish the soap around in the water to make suds. Dip a stiff-bristled brush into the soapy water and scrub the moldy surface with the brush.[7] Re-dip the brush regularly and scrub until the area is saturated with suds. Rinse the area with water.

As alarming as these numbers are, they don’t tell the whole story. Although water damage is probably the biggest concern, mold and other biotoxins can also develop in buildings that are not water-damaged but have indoor humidity levels above 50 to 60 percent. In fact, many experts recommend maintaining indoor humidity levels between 30 and 50 percent for preventing the growth of mold and other biotoxins.
If you find mold in your home which looks like toxic black mold you should have it professionally tested to be certain. It’s important that you determine whether it’s mycotoxin-producing toxic black mold or a non-toxic species of mold. Once you know for sure then you can plan how to remove it.

I tried the tea tree essential oil first and I was very happy with it as this killed the mold right away. The only drawbacks to using this is it can be a little expensive although a few drops does quite a good area. Tea tree oil does have a strong smell that you have to get used to, but the smell will go away in an hour or so.

I used neat bleach on a sponge; just keep rubbing around the rubber seal. I left it for a while, then put it on a 95 wash and let it run with no washing in just to get rid of the bleach. Hope it helps; it did for me.

When presented with this circular menu, slime molds consistently glommed onto the piece of food with optimal balance of nutrients.
Black mold is most likely to rear its ugly head in areas of the home that are warm, humid and damp. In addition to showers, basements and crawlspaces that may have leaks, or some other sources of moisture, are commonly susceptible to the growth of toxic black mold.
There are many steps to reduce exposure. For example, replace vinyl wallcoverings with Cradle-to-Cradle-certified ones made with new polymers and water-based inks and coatings. If dry-cleaned goods have a strong chemical odor, which indicates a high concentration of the solvent PERC (perchloroethylene), do not accept them until they have been properly dried. Use non- or low-VOC paints, glues, epoxies, adhesives and building products. Even when using low-VOC products, ventilate the space with plenty of fresh air. Dispose of even small amounts you won’t use right away in an environmentally responsible way.

Frankly, the mixture is cheep and pretty good on most situation but it takes PATIENCE and a lot of repeated work/treatments, *BUT* it is fairly useless on press board. My guess is that press board it just too porous, and after a month of spraying the area down every day with lots of scrubbing there has been about a 75%-80% improvement *EXCEPT FOR* the press board.
Enter LG – about 1 year old and beginning to smell, under the same operating and maintenance routines. When I empty the drain pump to clean the filter, the amount of water coming out of the LG is 3-4 times more than what I used to see on any washer before. That cannot be good. The door seal material (rubber) is more porous and has more grooves and plies, which makes it far more likely to trap moisture and provide a growth bed for mold and bacteria. My point: the quality of the design and materials used to make the washers are very important. On the inside, simpler and smoother is better.
To test this idea, Reid and his colleagues placed slime molds in a petri dish behind a U-shaped barrier that blocked a direct route to a piece of food. Because the barrier was made of dry acetate, the slime molds could not stick to it and climb over it; instead, they had to follow the contours of the U toward the food. Ultimately, 23 of 24 slime molds reached the goal. But when Reid coated the rest of the petri dish in extracellular slime before introducing the slime molds, only eight of 24 found the food. All that preexisting slime confused the slime molds, preventing them from marking different areas as explored or unexplored. Reid thinks that a polycephalum in a labyrinth is similarly dependent on its slime, using it to first map the entire maze and then to remember which corridors are dead-ends.
